Highlighted Project
PAL offers
expertise in the research and documentation of historic engineering
structures and industrial sites and has completed over 90 projects involving
these specialized resources. These projects have included architectural
surveys of multiple industrial districts and areas, and HAER and state-level
documentation of bridges, cranes, dams, factories, hydroelectric plants,
ironworks, lighthouses, mining and quarrying sites, and a wide variety of
types of manufacturing facilities. PAL has conducted numerous surveys of
historic transportation corridors including canals, highways and railroads,
and has surveyed and documented historic military bases and defense
infrastructure, as well as water, power and other types of utility
resources. PAL’s industrial projects have also included National Register of
Historic Places nominations, excavation monitoring at historic industrial
archaeological sites, and interpretive park planning and design.
