  • conduct archaeological and historic architectural studies to locate, identify, and evaluate properties within the established APEs that are listed or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places
     

  • assess the impacts that a proposed undertaking will have on historic properties

Telecommunication facilities are subject to 47 CFR 1.1207 sections (a) and (b) for environmental consequences pursuant to Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requirements. Under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) of 1966, as amended, an assessment of impacts on historic properties is required. Review of the proposed undertaking by the State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO) is an integral part of the Section 106 process.
