Truro Historic Architectural Survey
PAL assisted the Town of Truro (THC) and the Truro Historical Commission with Phases III and IV of their community-wide historic properties survey to use for planning purposes.
Process
As part of Truro’s survey update, PAL completed
- archival research and field survey of 306 late eighteenth- to early twentieth-century properties and 6 areas
- GIS mapping
- new or updated Massachusetts Historical Commission individual property and area inventory forms
- evaluation of National Register eligibility for properties identified as priorities in the town’s 2010 survey plan
Results
PAL recommended 38 individual properties and 8 historic districts as eligible for listing in the National Register. PAL’s final work product incorporated all completed documentation by PAL and work done in Phases I and II into the Town’s comprehensive survey plan index of historic resources. A large-scale base map of all inventoried properties created using GIS was added to the plan which will be used by the Town and the THC for a variety of planning purposes.
